• It is assumed that the design is for AC/DC power supplies, nominal input voltage:
  • 100/110/120Vac, or
  • 208/220/240Vac, or
  • 100-240Vac

1. Power levels 0-150W: discontinuous mode flyback.
2. Power levels 150W-500W: forward converter.
3. Power levels 500W-8kW: full bridge, phase shift.

Choosing a different topology may be a better option only in special cases, for very special applications. Choose the right topology from the beginning. Do not find out too late that your competitor has a product with a higher power density, better efficiency, better technical specifications and lower cost.
